A Monroe man was arrested after he was accused of hitting two people with a truck Sunday morning.
Polk County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Highland Park Little League Complex located at 4700 NW Morningstar Drive in Des Moines on what was discovered to be a vehicular assault on two men just before 9 a.m. While responding to the scene, deputies discovered the truck hit two men before colliding into the concession stand. The driver of the truck, identified as 40 year old Chad Winninger of Monroe, was seen walking in the middle of Morningstar Drive away from the scene. When deputies approached Winninger, he began fighting with officers. With the assistance of the Iowa State Patrol and the Des Moines Police Department, deputies were able to take him into custody and transport him to a hospital for examination.
Winninger is facing charges of Willful Injury causing Serious Injury, Willful Injury causing Bodily Injury, Criminal Mischief 1st degree and three counts of Interference with Official Acts causing Bodily Injury.
The two victims struck by the truck have been identified as 49 year old Dean Bradham of Sioux City and 56 year old Edwin Sullivan of West Des Moines. Bradham was treated and released at the scene. Sullivan remains in critical condition at a Des Moines hospital.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently investigating this incident.
