The PCM Mustangs went on their longest road trip of the season on Friday as the Mustangs traveled down to Central Lee for a district match up that saw two teams undefeated in district play, battle it out for the top spot in District 6 of Class 2A.
The good news for the Mustang, it wasn’t much of a battle. For PCM it was business as usual as the defense held the Hawks of Central Lee to a shutout and stopped the Hawks running attack offense dead in its tracks. The Mustang offense continued to fire on all cylinders as quarterback Sheldon Speers connected with wide out Luke Greiner on multiple long touchdown throws and Wes Cummings and Noah Anderson pounded the rock at will on the Central Lee defense. A game dubbed by many as the championship of district 6, it didn’t play out as such as PCM established their dominance and showed they are the team to beat the rest of the season in the district. Next up for the Mustangs, homecoming as Chariton will come into town on Friday September 30th to try to knock PCM off the top of the district. Chariton winless on the season doesn’t pose much of a threat to the Mustangs, but Head Coach isn’t a big fan of the homecoming game and knows his team needs to stay focused during such a busy week. The Mustangs will look to move to 5-1 and 4-0 in the district after their homecoming game.
