Pella Christian’s hand has been forced as a drastically different Eagles football team will be hitting the road for their longest road trip of the 2016 season to Mount Ayr tonight.
At 4-0, the No. 2 ranked Eagles are hoping their one-night only show will topple the 3-1 Raiders. Following his targeting rule ejection, QB David Kacmarynski will take a backseat to his favorite target Levi Jungling. In nearly three quarters last week, Jungling racked up 194 yards rushing and 3 TD in relief of Kac against I-35.
Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says the team will be challenged, but the experience has also been an opportunity to show how much talent they have surrounding David.
“Levi is such a phenomenal athlete that, as you saw in the game last week, he was able to step right in and make plays. He’s looked more and more comfortable as we’ve gone through the week and I think we have a strong game plan. A big chunk of our team is still in tact – our offensive line is still playing very well, our defense is still playing very well and our special teams is still playing very well.”
Mount Ayr leads the all-time series at 5-1 against PC, with the Eagles lone win coming in a 2008 thriller. Co-head coaches Delwyn Showalter & Derek Lambert have led the Raiders to eight straight playoff appearances and two straight trips to the Dome.
Coverage on 92.1 KRLS starts at 6:30, with kickoff at 7. Andrew Schneider and Larry Hessing make the long trek south and west to call the action live.
