In Central College sports action this weekend…
Central’s men’s tennis team earned championships in two different brackets at the Iowa Conference individual championships in Waterloo Saturday. Colin Jones beat teammate Jimmy Cunningham to win flight C singles, and Garrett Taylor and Scott Wilson teamed up to beat a duo from Coe to win flight B doubles.
The Central College volleyball team went 3-1 at the IIAC / NACC Crossover in Lisle, Illinois. The Dutch lost to Aurora on Friday before bouncing back with a win over Benedictine, then beating both Wisconsin Lutheran and Concordia-Chicago on Saturday.
The men’s soccer team fell behind in the sixth minute Saturday and lost a 2-0 decision to North Central at the Kuyper Athletic Complex.
On Friday, the Dutch cross-country teams competed at the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, Illinois. Both the men and women finished in 10th place. Isaac Steffensmeier took 10th individually for the men and Rachel Peter was the top finisher for the Central women in 12th.
