The PCM Mustangs came into Friday night’s game against Montezuma with a little bit of a chip on their shoulder.
After some sloppy play against Pella Christian a week ago the Mustangs looked to rebound against the number six team in Class A the Montezuma Braves in Montezuma. The story coming into the night was if this Mustang defense which held Pella Christian to just 118 rushing yards could slow down the Montezuma rushing attack that ran for 250 yards against BGM Brooklyn a week ago. But when the game got going it was clear that the story of the game was Wes Cummings and this PCM Mustang rush attack against the Braves defense. Wes Cummings was the work horse for this Mustang team as he ran for three rushing touchdowns of 4 yards, 8 yards and 50 yards. Coach Greg Bonnett couldn’t be happier with his running backs performance. Behind Wes Cummings 3 rushing touchdowns the PCM Mustangs would go on to get their first win of the season with a final score of 34-12. Next up for the Mustangs a date at home against the Albia Blue Demons on September 9th a team that got handled easily by Pella Christian 62-0 .
