Pella Christian burst out of the gate and rolled to a 72-0 football victory last night over Des Moines Christian in Urbandale in a game broadcast live on www.kniakrls.com.
The Eagles forced a fumble and an interception on the Lions’ first two possessions, and capitalized on each with David Kacmarynski touchdown runs of 1 and 26 yards. The senior QB then added touchdown passes to Levi Jungling (56) and Caleb Roose (5) as the Eagles built a 28-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was the Miles Wichhart show, as the Eagle tailback scored on a runs of 10, 1 and 20 yards, and a Sam Fredrickson 29 yard scamper made it 56-0 at the break.
With the running clock in effect for the second half, Pella Christian kept the ball on the ground, adding fourth quarter TD runs by Brett Roose (2) and Moises Carballo (11), plus a safety, to polish off the 72-0 win.
Kacmarynski was 6-7 passing for 141 yards and added 5 rushes for 47 yards. Wichhart was the leading ground gainer with 90 yards on 10 carries, and Jungling’s 98 yards on 3 catches led all receivers.
