A public-private partnership has grown between the city of Pella and Vermeer Corporation to improve the area near the manufacturer.
City of Pella Finance Director Corey Goodenow says the city has purchased equipment for underground electric conversion, which Vermeer will install. A public hearing was held to approve the contract for equipment, which cost approximately $173,000.
Goodenow estimates the expenses for the city if they completed the project themselves would have been close to $500,000. The deal is similar to one struck between the two this summer for water improvements. Hear more from this week’s Pella City Council meeting on Let’s Talk Pella.
