A Pella man was taken to a Des Moines hospital with head injuries following a serious crash late last night in southwest Iowa.
At 11:27 p.m., a Suzuki motorcycle driven by 64 year old Thomas K Hostetter of Pella was eastbound on Highway 34 in Afton and resident Amanda Ibbotson, 32, did not see him coming while she was at a stop sign on Highway 169. The Iowa State Patrol report says she pulled her Ford Taurus in front of Hostetter during an attempted left turn. He tried to stop and lost control of his motorcycle and put it down on its right side.
Hostetter was transported to Methodist in Des Moines via Life Flight. His condition has been upgraded after he was listed critical condition overnight after suffering head injuries.
