The Pleasantville volleyball team got back to action Tuesday after a week of team building and mental toughness was worked on at practice.
The Trojans traveled to Leon to take on the Central Decatur Cardinals in search of their second win of the season. Unfortunately for the Trojans things would not go their way Tuesday night as they would fall in three straight sets 10-25, 24-26 and 6-25. Head Coach Jennifer Douma knows this year is more of rebuilding year especially with such a young team but she is still hoping to get more out of her squad for the rest of the 2016 season. “We have seen spurts of what this team is capable of and it’s exciting, we need to continue to build on the positive and learn how to play more consistently with the drive to finish games to the end” says Douma. The Trojans will have another week off until their next match at Interstate 35 on September 27th.
The Pleasantville Cross Country Team also got back to action on Tuesday as the Trojans headed to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont. For the Trojans Josh Pulse would place 5th for the boys as the boy’s highest finisher. And for the girl’s side, Mel Johnson placed 7th for the girls and would help push the girls to a 2nd place finish as a team. The Trojans will next run Thursday September 22nd at the Gateway Golf Course in Monroe along with other local area schools such as PCM, Pella Christian and Twin Cedars.
