The Pleasantville Trojans volleyball team has not had the type of success that they would have liked in the first year under new Head Coach Jenn Douma.
The Trojans came into the 2016 season winning only two games the year before so Coach Douma knew this year was going to be an uphill battle. The 2016 Trojan team already does have one win on the year but if the Trojans want to get to that two win mark and tie with the 2015 team, it all starts now with improvement during its layoff between games. Last week the Trojans worked on team building, mental toughness and conditioning. The improvements didn’t show up on the win column but could definitely be seen in the scoreboard as the Trojans played the Road Runners of Interstate 35 tough in all three matches as opposed to a few weeks before on Sept 12th losing to the Road Runners soundly in a triangular tournament. The Trojans next opponent is South East Warren on October 4th followed up by Martensdale-St Marys on October 8th a team the Trojans took one match from back on September 6th. If the Trojans and Head Coach Jenn Douma are looking for signs of improvement, the match up October 8th could be a chance to show that improvement and set the table for next year’s 2017 squad.
