The Pleasantville Trojans took to the road Friday as they traveled down to Truro Iowa to take on the Road Runners of Interstate 35.
A game that started with a soggy field after some heavy rains came through the area led to a soggy start for the Pleasantville offense. After a quick opening drive from the Road Runners to give them a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter the Trojans would go on to stall on their opening drive, then fumble on their second drive to keep it 7-0 Road Runners towards the end of the second quarter. The Trojans would go on to score from one yard out on a Sawyer Phillips touchdown run to pull even with the Road Runners 7-7 going into halftime. At halftime Pleasantville Head Coach Gabe Bakker must have got the kinks out of his offense because the Trojans would come out and score quick on a 52-yard touchdown catch and run by Hunter Tyree to put the Trojans up 14-7 early in the 3rd quarter. The Trojans would then go up 20-7 late in the 3rd quarter before a lighting delay at the end of the 3rd quarter would have both teams take shelter for 45 minutes before the 4th quarter would start. After all the delays and slow start by the Trojans, Pleasantville would go on to win 33-7 and move to 3-0 on the season. After the Trojan defense shut out the Road Runners in the second half Head Coach Gabe Bakker couldn’t be happier with his defense especially his defensive line. Next up for the Trojans a home game vs Des Moines Christian who got dismantled by the Pella Christian Eagles Friday night.
