In a see-saw game that featured seven lead changes and was never tied after the opening score, Central College couldn’t force overtime, falling to Coe 33-30 when Aaron Marcellus’ 22-yard field goal was blocked with two seconds remaining.

The Dutch jumped out to a 10-0 lead, only to see Coe rally for a 16-10 halftime advantage.

Then in the second half, the teams traded leads six times, with the Kohawks getting the winner on a Gavin Glenn one-yard run with 86 seconds to play.

Central drove deep into Coe territory, firing a couple of shots at the end zone before the fateful blocked kick.

The loss drops the Dutch to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the Iowa Conference, while the Kohawks remain undefeated and tied with Dubuque atop the league standings.

Sam Markham snagged 13 passes for 134 yards and a touchdown to lead the Dutch offensively, while linebacker Chris Neeld has eight tackles and a pair of sacks for the Central D.
