Bow season for deer began in Iowa over the weekend.

Department of Natural Resources Officer Eric Hoffman tells KNIA/KRLS News there are several things that hunters should remember this season to help the DNR care for Iowa’s white tail population. Hoffman stresses the importance of tagging and reporting deer harvested as soon as they are taken and reminds hunters that carcasses can be disposed of with curbside trash. He says dumping of carcasses in ditches and on public ground has been an issue in past years. Hoffman also encourages hunters to contact the DNR with any questions and to report any illegal activity. Cooperation between sportsman and the DNR is essential to maintaining healthy wildlife in Iowa for years to come.
