The Knoxville Public Library is holding a celebration of Iowa Civil War Governor and Knoxville native William Milo Stone’s birthday today.

The celebration will feature a civil war program presented by Humanities Iowa Speaker and civil war reenactor O.J. Fargo. The program is titled “Just Before the Battle Mother” and examines the life of a young Civil War soldier from Iowa. Fargo will also bring artifacts and an electronic roster of all the Iowans who served in the conflict. Birthday cake and lemonade will conclude the event, which begins at 1 p.m. in the library meeting room.
