Playing their final game of the season…the Knoxville Panthers got down early and could never recover in a 56-22 loss to Grinnell last night in a game heard on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA. The Tigers opened up a 14-0 lead before Caleb Light hit a 24 yard field goal in the second quarter, then the Tigers put up 14 more points in a span of just over a minute to make it 28-3. The Panthers high light of the night can when Jacob Zuck found Blake McClung in the back of the end zone with no time remaining to cut the Grinnell lead to 28-9 at the half. However the Tigers would slam the door on Knoxville in the third quarter building a lead that proved insurmountable for the Panthers. Coach Eric Kellar told KNIA/KRLS Sports the defense was unable to get pressure on Grinnell’s quarterback all night. Zuck again led the Panther rushing attack with 23 carries for 71 yards he was 12/26 for 129 yards and a touchdown and interception. McClung had five catches for 77 yards and a score. Knoxville finishes the season 1-8 and 0-7 in the district.
