A Knoxville man has been arrested on several charges, including an alleged sexual assault after an incident Saturday.

Knoxville Police Officers responded to an emergency call at an apartment on Madelyn Drive. Officers found Robert Church standing in front of the apartment. A breathalyzer test reported a BAC of .224. Witnesses told police Church had made unwanted sexual advances towards a woman in the apartment. According to court records, when Church’s advances were refused he became violent and threatened to kill her if she did not comply. He allegedly chased her into a bathroom and other people at the apartment asked him to leave. While being arrested, Church resisted being handcuffed and a search of his person revealed marijuana and a pipe. He is charged with public intoxication, possession of marijuana, simple assault, and sexual assault in the third degree, a class C felony, among other crimes.
