Knoxville Middle School parents, students and educators are participating in a survey to improve healthy choices in school lunch.

Knoxville School District Child Nutrition Director Julie Miller tells KNIA/KRLS News the Smart Lunches initiative, sponsored by the University of Iowa, is designed to assess what children are eating and use the data to help them make healthier choices in the lunch line. She says children often lack the nutrition education to make good choices for their health and quality of education. Miller hopes all those who received the survey will participate. The Smart Lunch Initiative was begun by researchers at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
