A veteran from Knoxville attended a National Veterans Creative Arts Festival earlier this month.
Don French, a retired Army Sergeant, was one of 140 selected to attend the conference out of more than 3,000 entrants. French says the Festival lets veterans express themselves and helps them cope with mental wounds sustained in service to their country. This is the 9th year French has been selected to attend the festival. He won medals for writing in two different contest categories and also performed a dance routine will another local veteran who is wheelchair bound. The pair choreographed a dance that brings together wheelchair movement and dance steps. This year’s National Veterans Creative Arts Festival was held in Jackson, Mississippi.
