Today is the beginning of National School Lunch Week, a program started by President John F. Kennedy in 1962, according to Knoxville School District Child Nutrition Coordinator Julie Miller.

Miller tells KNIA/KRLS News the week draws attention to the need for good nutrition for the best possible education. Miller says the scientific correlation between eating well and doing well in school is strong. School Lunch week will feature several events for students including appearances by guest star lunch servers including Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch and KNIA/KRLS morning announcer Spencer Dirks.
