After receiving a first round bye, Pella Christian opens the class 2-A volleyball regional tournament tonight.

The Eagles will host North Mahaska, who beat another Marion County school, Pleasantville, last week.

Pella Christian is 23-12 on the year, while the Warhawks are 16-13. The Eagles saw North Mahaska up close and personal when they beat them 2-0 in a tournament in New Sharon on September 17th, then Coach John Evenhouse scouted them during their opening round win over the Trojans.

“They dig the ball and they keep coming back at you. They hope that you make a mistake sooner or later, and sooner or later against some of those teams, that’s what you do. They just handle the ball so well. We’re hoping to not have that happen. We’re hoping to get some blocks on them, we can slow them down and that our hitters will have a good day.”

First serve between Pella Christian and North Mahaska is at 7:00 tonight at Pella Christian High School.
