The Central College football team led the way in all-Iowa Conference selections with eight players landing on the first team, the most for the Dutch since 2010.

Offensive first-team honors went to tight end Mitchell Boerm, quarterback Riley Gray, wide receiver Sam Markham, and right guard Cole Tanner.

On defense, linebacker Jessie Peterson, defensive end Corbin Blythe and free safety Zach Matter (senior, Ankeny) were named as first-team honorees.

Return specialist Zack Martinelli was Central’s only special teams selection.

Three more Dutch defenders earned second-team honors – defensive lineman Wes Wheat and linebackers Drew Carlson and Sam Norgaard.

Central finished the 2016 season with an 8-2 record and tied for second in the Iowa Conference with a 6-2 league mark.
