Central College junior Mark Fairley has qualified for the NCAA Division III Men’s Cross Country Championships after a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Central Region meet Saturday in Northfield Minnesota.

The Dutch finished seventh in the 32-team field with 221 points. Iowa Conference rival Loras won the 8,000-meter race with 101 points, followed by Wartburg with 117, giving them each a team berth at nationals.

Fairley will compete at the national race this Saturday for the third time in his career. The championship race is held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

The Central women also raced this past Saturday in Northfield, finishing 16th out of 32 teams, and failing to advance any runners to nationals.
