The dreams of the UNI Dome were dashed for the Eagles in an epic matchup between the top two teams in Class 1A.

No. 2 Pella Christian, despite a late charge, fell to the six-time defending champions No. 1 Regina 45-43, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Turnovers plagued the Eagles early, with four first half interceptions that gave the Regals an eventual two-touchdown lead. An opening drive score gave Regina a 35-14 lead in the 3rd quarter, before the men from Eagle Lane started to roll.

The two teams traded blows until PC finally stopped the rolling Regals offense and snagged the momentum it brought it to within one. A late-FG gave Regina a ten point lead, but Pella Christian kept driving.
Pella Christian scored on a Kacmarynski run late in the 4th quarter.
A two-point conversion made it 45-43, and while the Eagles D made another stand, Pella Christian turned the ball over in Regina territory to clinch the trip to Cedar Falls.

Pella Christian’s Levi Jungling broke the state career yardage record with a 55-yard score, which put him at 3818 yards, breaking Grant McGraw’s record of 3710 set in 1995. Levi tied McGraw in 2nd place for all-time receiving touchdowns with 46, just three shy of the record set by T.J. Hockenson last year.

Pella Christian turned the ball over five times.

The Eagles season ends at 10-1.
