Marion County Members of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association will vote tomorrow at the Marion County Iowa State Extension Office on the possible return of the Iowa Beef Checkoff.

The Checkoff would charge 50 cents for every head of cattle sold and use that money to promote and market Iowa Beef and research production technology. All those who have owned cattle within the past year are eligible to vote. Katie Olthoff with the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association tells KNIA/KRLS News surveys have shown strong support for the Checkoff. 80% of those surveyed indicated they believe in it. The Federal Beef Checkoff is a dollar, but the state initiative will provide money to deal directly with Iowa Beef issues.
