A storm passing through northern Mahaska County Monday afternoon spawned a brief tornado.

A summary posted by the National Weather Service reports an EF-0 funnel touched down along the Poweshiek County Border at 4:15 p.m. between New Sharon and Montezuma. No damage was reported. The tornado warning triggered by the storm was one of seven tornadoes in the state. For second year in a row, the most monthly tornado warnings issued by the National Weather Service Des Moines office has occurred in November.
