The PCM Mustangs in 2016 were in some fans minds were overachievers.

After an early exit in the 2015 state playoffs the 2016 PCM Football team had to replace many weapons on offense as well as get ready to play in a new district. The Mustangs came out in week 1 with a loss to the #2 team in Class 1A the Pella Christian Eagles behind some sloppy play and some unforced turnovers. The Mustangs and their fans didn’t really know what the rest of the 2016 season would bring. After rattling off nine straight wins it was clear that this team was special. The PCM Mustangs might have had their season end earlier than they had hoped but they definitely established a base to build off for future Mustang teams. With 19 players named to the District 6 all-district team it is clear just how dominate this team was in 2016. The Mustangs will lose nine of those all district players to graduation but will return ten of them as the 2017 team will hope to build off the 2016 success and try to be only the 3rd PCM team to reach the dome. Head Coach Greg Bonnett knows that the returning players he will have back for 2017 had plenty of playing time because of just how dominate his 2016 squad was this year. The Mustangs might have ten returning all-district players for 2017 but during the off season and through till next fall the Mustangs will look to get bigger fast stronger especially upfront on the offensive and defensive lines where most of the losses to graduation will be felt.
