The PCM Mustangs fell just short of their dream to play in the dome, as the Mustangs would fall to Dike-New Hartford at home on Friday 54-14.

The Mustangs would open the game with a quick touchdown to take an early 7-0 lead but it was all Dike-New Hartford after that. On the second offensive play for the Wolverines Senior running back Trent Johnson the record holder for most career rushing yards in the state of Iowa would break two tackles and race 93 yards for a touchdown stealing the momentum from the Mustangs. On the following possession for PCM Senior quarterback Sheldon Speers would throw an interception to set up the Wolverines at the PCM 30 yard line and only a few plays later Dike-New Hartford would score on a 30 yard touchdown pass. The Wolverines would never look back and would go into have time leading the Mustangs on their home field 27-7. The Mustangs would come out in the second have more energized and get an early interception but could not capitalize on the turnover as the Wolverines defense kept the PCM offense in check all game long. PCM would get one more touchdown late on an incredible one handed touchdown by Senior Noah Clark but it was not enough as the 2016 Mustangs ended their season Friday night. Head Coach Greg Bonnett talked about that 93 yard touchdown run by the Wolverines Trent Johnson and just how quick Johnson was able to score. That touchdown and the following interception by Dike New-Hartford would be the one two combination that would knock out the Mustangs as they just could never recover from those early blows.
