After winning a pair of road games last week against ranked teams, the Pella Christian girls basketball team hosts its home opener tonight against A-D-M.

The Eagles knocked off fifth-ranked Van Meter and then 12th-ranked Montezuma, both out of their own class 2-A, and now they’ll step up to take on the class 4-A Tigers.

Coach Kevin Van Maanen says that with a tough opponent seemingly around every corner, they have to continue the improvement he’s already seen during the first couple of weeks of the season.

“I think we’re making good strides and good improvements. Our guard play is getting better and our inside play is getting better. I feel like every position is getting better, now we just need to take it one game at a time and see what happens.”

Tonight’s varsity game will start at approximately 7:30 at Pella Christian High School.

It’s also our first Eagle basketball broadcast of the winter, and Andrew Schneider and Wynne Veenstra will have the play-by-play on our KRLS2 stream at www.kniakrls.com.
