State tournament volleyball continues today in Cedar Rapids with Pella looking to compete for their first-ever state championship.

In order to have that chance, Pella has to beat No. 4 Bishop Heelan in the semifinals at the U.S. Cellular Center.

The Lady Dutch swept of Nevada on Tuesday, and in the following match Heelan defeated Charles City 3-1.

Defense is the strength of the Heelan team, has they average the highest amount of digs per set at just over 17 among 4A qualifers, which is two more per game than the rest of the field.

Setter Kiki Pingel says they are hoping to carry over momentum built late in Tuesday’s match and have a fast start on offense today.

Pella state tournament volleyball coverage begins at 11:30 a.m. on 92.1 KRLS, with first serve scheduled at noon.
