Pella’s opponent Thursday night in the class 3-A football championship game lacks championship pedigree, but its coach does not.

Webster City is led by Bob Howard, who’s been in the playoffs 25 times with four different programs. He’s one of only five coaches to accomplish that feat.

Howard has also hoisted three state championship trophies, all with Sigourney-Keota – in 1995, 2001 and 2005.

As of right now, the Lynx have never played in a state championship game. They made the semifinals three times in the mid 80’s, but hadn’t been back to the final four until last Thursday’s 6-3 win over Glenwood.

Webster City will be gunning for its first title on Thursday night, as the Little Dutch look to become just the sixth program in Iowa history to win three in a row.

Game time is 7:06 at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. Our coverage will start at 5:00 with the Jeromy Dingeman Concrete Football Friday Night Radio Preview Show.
