Both Pleasantville basketball squads picked up victories last night on the road in Melcher playing against the Saints, the girls would win 61-17 and the boys 64-41.

Balanced scoring was the biggest part of the Pleasantville girls teams night, with 11 players finding the score sheet and only Kelsey Van Haalen getting into double figures with 10. The Trojans held the Saints to just two points in the second quarter while they built their lead, and the starters would not play in the fourth quarter.

Melcher-Dallas was led in scoring by Emilie Krpan who had 8. Pleasantville Girls Head Coach Aaron Fichter said that it was good to get a lot of girls some court time.

It was the season opening game for both sides on the boys side, but a sloppy start would not hinder the Trojans en route to a 33-16 halftime lead. It was the third quarter that put an end to the Saints upset hopes as point guard Brady Elder erupted with an 11 point quarter while the defense held the Saints to 8 total points.

Elder scored 26 points to lead the Trojans, while Paul Karpan put in 12 for the Saints. The girls improve to 1-1, while the boys are 1-0, and both teams will play this Friday at Central Decatur in Pride of Iowa Conference play.
