Inconsistency and early foul trouble would doom the Pleasantville Trojan Girls Basketball Team last night in their season opener against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, losing 67-31.

The Trojans got down early by 13 points in the first quarter, then held strong to the same as a halftime deficit. Pleasantville had the lead down to 11 in the third, but an 18 point barrage by the Rockets put the game out of reach. Kelsee Van Haalen led the team in scoring with eight, Abbie McVay scored seven, and Madyson Thill put in five.

Head Coach Aaron Fichter told KNIA/KRLS Sports that the team has a lot of room to grow, and that some girls were seeing their first varsity minutes against a strong Rockets squad. The Trojans fall to 0-1, and will play again next Tuesday on the road against Melcher-Dallas.
