Over 90% of the scoring graduated from the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad last year as the Panthers posted a 13-9 season. This season, the Panthers will have to find scoring from new faces, and a much younger team will suit up for tonight’s season opener against class 3A number 15 P-C-M. Panthers Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the coaches are looking for players who are willing to improve their game while making a contribution. Shaye Nichols and Haili Swan are the only seniors on the team this season. Uitermarkt adds Nichols will have to be one of the scorers, a role she has not had to have until this year. Tonight’s season opener will get underway with the freshmen game at four.
