Depth and experience highlight one of the most talented opening day rosters ever for the Pella Christian boys basketball team.

Head Coach Larry Hessing says beyond all-state point guard Levi Jungling–who figures to be on the floor nearly every minute this season, almost every position on the floor will be battling for playing time.

“The challenge for us coaches is going to be how to divide up the minutes at those different positions. But we are deep and one guy will maybe have a good night one night and be a little bit off the next night. These guys really play hard and compete and we’re really looking forward to that depth that we have.”

Many key contributors from last year’s 3rd place Class 2A team will see the floor extensively this season, including guards Graham Howerzyl, Alex Pringle, and Caleb Roose. Also playing his first basketball in over 20 months, Hessing says David Kacmarynski will likely ease into his post position, ceding some floor time early to a trio of Kenden Veenstra, Jackson Flagel, and Alex Huisman.

Pella Christian begins the 2017 season Tuesday against ADM at home, in a solo varsity contest that can be heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
