The Pella Walmart reopened at full service after Thursday’s tragic crash that killed three people.

On Sunday, damage done by a silver F-150 that slammed through the front of the store was still being repaired, both to the front doors and the shelving area temporarily removed. Many shoppers paused as they entered the store, gazing at the scratches and marks scarring the floor near the entrance–a reminder of how fresh Thursday’s wounds still are. Employees received hugs from customers, restocked many of the shelves left untouched for days, and checked out employees as the holiday rush returned.

The Iowa State Patrol and Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating what may have caused a silver Ford F-150 driven by Dennis Mockenhaupt to crash through the front doors of the store and kill three people and injure another, but police said through early investigation it appears to be an accident.
