All area coaches are looking for ways that their team can improve during the time off for the holidays.

Even though his team is 6-2 and ranked 8th in class 2-A, Pella Christian girls basketball coach Kevin Van Maanen is no different.

One of the areas he’s identified is on the defensive side of the ball, where he says that his team needs to be more connected.

“When one player has to rotate, then everybody has to rotate. So we’re trying to be more connected as a unit when we’re moving in our shell, and we are trying to communicate better so that we know who has who and we’re talking on our switches. Just general communication with each other.”

Pella Christian will return to action next Friday night, January 6th, at Grinnell, who’s ranked 5th in class 4-A.
