Knoxville and Pella will meet on the wrestling mat tonight in Knoxville. The two Marion County rivals have had successful starts to their respective seasons. Pella is 2-1 in duals winning all of its matches at the Iowa Valley Quad last Thursday. The Dutch are also coming off a championship in the Montezuma Invitational over the weekend getting championships from Keegan Poole, Ashton Messer, Ethan Speltz and Matthew Widmar with Messer setting the school’s all-time pins record. Knoxville has also been successful on the mat trouncing Nevada in its opener last week and finishing seventh out of eight teams in a tough Newton Invitational on Saturday. The Panthers are very young this season but do have solid experience in the middle weights with Joe Hollinrake, Riley Spaur and Michael Ullestad placing well on Saturday. Tonight’s bouts begin at 6:30.
