Knoxville and Pleasantville High School Dance Teams walked away from the ISDTA Team State Championships at Wells Fargo Arena with first place trophies after competition Thursday and Friday.

Knoxville won top honors in Class II Lyrical Dance with a routine that Coach Heidi Feldman says drew strong emotions from the crowd. Feldman says the dancer’s job is to make the audience feel, and they delivered, hushing the crowd of thousands with a narrative about war separating lovers, only to see them reunited by angels. Pleasantville collected first in Class I color guard, a Judge’s Choice Award and both schools were Awarded Outstanding Community Service Awards in recognition of the volunteering they have done in their cities this year.
