The Knoxville Basketball Squad had to settle for a split as the girls fell in overtime to Davis County 52-46, and the boys put on an impressive show in the second half to win 52-37. The girls were able to get an early advantage at the halftime break…but could not hold on and were outscored in the second half and overtime 37-21. The Panthers had balanced scoring with Kendrea Richardson and Katie Keitges sharing high points honors with 13, but Coach Jim Uitermarkt said there were too many extra chances that Davis County had in the second half. The Panthers fall to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in the South Central Conference. The boys were leading by three at the half, then came out in the second half to outscore Davis County 21-8 in the third quarter to put away The Mustangs. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS the guys picked things up in the second half. Ben Wallace scored 14 points to lead Knoxville who improves to 5-1 on the season and 4-0 and now hold sole possession of first place in the South Central Conference by virtue of Centerville’s loss to Chariton last night.
