Both PCM Basketball squads stayed perfect in conference play with a sweep of rival Gilbert at home last night, the girls winning 44-34 and the boys taking care of business 66-53.
The girls jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, getting a 24-15 halftime lead, and then extending that lead to 38-23 at the end of the third. Kayla Jennings led the team with 14 points, Katie Vande Wall had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Lexi Timmins got six steals.
The boys trailed at halftime 25-23, but a strong second half from Andrew Van Ryswyk led the way to outscoring the Tigers 43-28. Van Ryswyk ended the game with a double-double 19 points and 10 rebounds, Jackson Thomas scored 18, and Dayton Boell grabbed 12 boards.
The girls improve to 6-1, the boys to 4-1, and both squads will next play this Friday at South Hamilton to continue Heart of Iowa Conference play. Those games will be available live on KNIAKRLS.com via the KNIA2 stream.
