Calendar year 2016 was collectively the best in history for the athletic teams at Pella High School, with a whopping 11 state trophies added to the already impressive collection.

Both the boys and girls earned six.

Five of the girl’s trophies were runner-up finishes – in basketball, soccer, track and field, volleyball and cross-country. The girl’s golf team added a fourth place trophy.

The boys had the school’s two 2016 state championships, track and field and football, with basketball and baseball each finishing third and cross-country in fifth.

The Little Dutch and Lady Dutch have a jump start on a successful 2017, with the girls basketball team ranked first headed to the new year, and the boys basketball team ranked third.
