Pella Rural Fire crews responded to a burning vehicle early Friday morning.
Pella Fire Captain Randy Bogaard tells KNIA/KRLS News the fire in the 2100 Block of Eaton Avenue in Rural Leighton started at approximately 2:30 a.m.
He says the owner of the vehicle was able to move it away from others that may have caught fire nearby, which allowed Pella firefighters to more safely extinguish the flames.
Bogaard says the blaze was unusual, as it likely started in the trunk area. He says electrical equipment was hand-installed in the back. The vehicle was totaled. Pella Ambulance and the Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office responded.
