Students may not be back on campus, but the Central men’s and women’s basketball teams have been hard at work getting ready for what will prove to be a grueling Iowa Conference slate over the next seven weeks.

Tonight, the Dutch stay in the Tulip City for a doubleheader showdown versus Luther. The Norse women are 7 – 4 overall and own a spotless 3 – 0 conference mark, which Coach Chelsea Petersen tells KNIA/KRLS Sports is a result of good shooting and intense backcourt pressure on defense. Central’s defense has been stout themselves through 11 games; the 8 – 3 Dutch have held opponents to 53.5 points per game thus far.

Central’s men enter on a different note, having lost their last three games. Though Luther’s men are just 2 – 8 this year, Coach Craig Douma says tonight’s game is a scary one because of how cold his team has been shooting the ball recently. Douma hopes his Dutch can play fast against a stingy defense that doesn’t allow many “bunnies.”

The women’s game will tip-off first at 5:45 p.m. inside of P.H. Kuyper, and the play-by-play can be heard at Central’s website, Athletics.Central.Edu, or via the KNIA2 stream.
