Former Central College football student-athlete Derek Caskey has lost his battle with cancer.

Caskey, a 2015 graduate of Marengo High School in Illinois, was a freshman offensive lineman for the Dutch in 2015 and completed the 2015-16 academic year on campus.

However, he was diagnosed with cancer last August and was not enrolled for the fall semester as he went through treatment.

He passed away Tuesday at the age of 20.
