Central College students are competing in the Kennedy American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) this week in Des Moines.

Student Anne Coughenour says the festival celebrates the top work of college theater program.

C.D. Adamson, assistant professor of theatre, serves this year as the festival’s associate coordinator of musical theatre. Central’s competitors in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition include juniors Ben Rockswold and Coughenour were nominated for Boeing Boeing, and Senior Ian Loyd of Austin, Tex., was nominated for his performance in “The Book Club Play” and will also compete.

Central students Ryan Jones and K.E. Daft will also participate as the competitors’ scene partners.

In addition, Central’s production of “Boeing-Boeing,” directed by Adamson, won an invitation for Rockswold and junior Devin McCain of Pella will perform a scene at the festival showcase.
