Pella’s Jesse Jablonksi and Pleasantville’s Sheldon Card have each been honored by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

At the organization’s annual banquet last weekend in West Des Moines, Jablonski was named the Class 3-A Southeast District Coach of the Year, while Card was tabbed as the class 2-A Southwest District Coach of the Year. Card was also recognized for earning his 300th career victory last season.

Jablonski’s Little Dutch went 31-9 in 2016, advancing to the state tournament semifinals for the second consecutive summer.

Card’s Trojans finished with a 29-10 record. They backed up their 2015 state runner-up finish in class 1-A by making it to the final four in class 2-A in 2016.
