For just the second time this season, the Pella Christian basketball teams found themselves in a split in which the boys lost.

Both of those instances came against Oskaloosa, where the Eagles girls won 73-36 and the boys fell 68-57 in a twin-bill heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella Christian’s girls had sticky fingers in their rout of the struggling Indians, tallying 14 steals in the contest and forcing 32 turnovers overall.

Head Coach Kevin Van Maanen says it was nice to see his bench players contribute in a big way and handle themselves well in important minutes.

Pella Christian was led by 19 points and five steals from Brooke Mitrisin and 15 points and five rebounds from Emma Huisman.

The Eagles boys were unable to match their opponent’s size and get their own shooting together to try and mount a comeback against Oskaloosa in their loss.

Pella Christian shot 23% from beyond the arc and Osky crashed the board for 31 rebounds to keep the Eagles from gaining too much momentum throughout.

David Kacmarynski led the way with 15 points and seven boards, and Jackson Flagel tacked on eight from the bench.

The Eagles girls are 8-4 and back to .500 in the conference, Pella Christian is 11-2 and has lost both to the Indians to fall to 2nd place in the Little Hawkeye standings.

Both join Knoxville tonight for Coaches vs. Cancer activities and for a girls-boys doubleheader.
