The Pella Lady Dutch fell in a close, back-and-forth game 63-57 with No. 1 in Class 5A Indianola last night as part of a doubleheader heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Despite the Indians finding their first lead in the 3rd quarter, Pella went blow for blow with the team regarded as the state’s best, staying with them until the 4th period.

Pella missed opportunities down the stretch, including key free throws and missed rebounds that could have kept the score closer.

Katie Vander Molen scored 20 points and Kiara Bradley had a double-double with 12 and 10 rebounds. Indianola’s Maggie McGraw scored 33, as her three-point shooting helped Indianola take the lead and seal the victory.

Pella falls to 12-3 and 6-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

The Little Dutch boys pulled ahead late against a solid-shooting Indianola team 86-61 contest. Pella didn’t have a signature run, but crept away further-and-further late.

Ryan Van Wyk led with 23 points and Donovan Holterhaus had 19.

Pella’s boys are 13-1 and remain in first place in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Both Pella teams will host Pella Christian Tuesday on 92.1 KRLS.
