At the Pella School Board meeting this week, Principal Eric Nelson shared a Clearinghouse Student Tracker Report as part of his update of the high school.
Nelson said according to data compiled in November, 71% of the Class of 2016 attended any two-year or four-year institution the fall immediately following commencement. He said the number has been trending slightly downward since 2009, when 84% went straight to postsecondary education.
Nelson said students completing college degrees is moving upward, with 67% of the class of 2010 graduating after high school. Almost 91% of college freshman from Pella are staying for their second year of higher education as well.
Iowa State University ranked highest among regents colleges with Pella graduates (144 reported), Central College had the most among private institutions (126 reported), and DMACC received the most Pella enrollees among community colleges (126 reported).
