Two games that were near perfect mirrors of each other, the Simpson Storm Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams fall on Saturday at home against Coe, the women falling 70-65 and the men 80-70.

The women got out to a fast start with a 9-0 run and got the lead up to 13 at some point, but the Kohawks outscored the Storm in every quarter after the first. Noreen Morrow put in 21 points and the Storm outscored the Kohawks in the paint 44-10, but clutch three point shots in the fourth quarter led to the Coe win, and the Storm women fall to 5-10 and 2-4 in Iowa Conference play. The Storm Men also got out to a fast start, but surrendered their lead late in the first half and would never regain it. Sam Amsbaugh put in 23 points while Cody Good came off the bench to score 12, but the normally inconsistent Kohawks shot 21-25 from the free throw line. The Storm Men are now 9-5 and 2-3 in Iowa Conference play, and both Simpson squads will play tonight at Buena Vista.
